Balderdash is a game that allows you to either show off how smart you are by knowing the definition to weird words or to make good guesses and hope that someone else picks your guess as the correct definition so you can at least get some points.
More than likely you will have to guess a few times during the game, and when you guess you want to make the definitions something someone would pick. Here are some tips to doing just that.
Most of the words in the game have pretty short definitions. Making your definition short is a good way to make your guess look like it might be the actual answer. As a side note people tend to forget definitions that are too long, so if your guess is one or two paragraphs long no one will pick it and you will not get any points for it.
2. Be Creative
Don't stay the safe route be creative and come up with unique definitions so that people will remember it and hopefully pick it as the right answer. If an answer is creative people might think it is just crazy enough to actually be the definition. Of course don't overdo it, there is no such things as a purple elephant, all guesses have to be creative and yet believable.
3. Be Very Detailed
Be detailed with your guess's, the less vague you are and the more you sound like you know what you are talking about the more likely people are to pick your answer as the right answer. Even if you have no idea what the answer could possibly be, pretend like you do.
Don't say something like "a carving Knife," say something more like "a type of carving knife first developed by Thomas M. Smith." This way it sounds more like an actual definition.
