Monopoly is a pretty fun game, but can it teach us anything about managing our money in the real world? Yes and here are some ways it does.
1. Invest Your Money
If you want to grow your money you are going to have to invest it into something. Don't just put it all in the bank and save it because that doesn't get you anywhere. When you play monopoly you may have noticed that those who keep their money stashed away and don't by many houses are always the first ones out. It works the same way in real life.
2. Always Have Cash
Don't spend all of your money always keep some in reserve. I will always see people spend all of their money to buy 1 huge hotel only to end up mortgaging it a few turns later because they need the money to pay off someone else.
The same thing applied to real life. There are always surprises that happen in real life, maybe your car breaks down or you get hit with some hospital bills. We don't want these type of things to happen but if they do you have to be prepared.
3. Negotiate, Always
How do you get ahead in monopoly? Negotiate! How do you get ahead in real life? Negotiate! If you don't ask your boss for that raise you will never know if you get it or not. And don't ever just settle negotiate to see if you can get the best deal for everything.
4. Take chances
This is similar to the one before. If you don't take chances in your life you will be going nowhere, just like if you don't buy investments in monopoly you will not win the game.
