Connect 4 Tips

Have you ever wanted to increase your odds of winning at connect 4? Well there is a way to do it, here are some tips you can use.

1. Connect 3.

The very first thing you must do, before you connect 4 is to connect 3. Ok this sounds like a joke but it's true you are going to want to make as many rows of three as you can. This gives you a higher chance of winning because all your opponent has to do is to mess up once for you to win. It also helps you with the next step.

2. Use Strategy

You are going to want to use strategy and plan many turns ahead by setting traps. One really great way to do this is to line up 3 pieces in a row where both ends are free. This way you will win no matter what they do. They may block 1 way you can get 4 in a row but they can't block both.

Another creative strategy that takes a little more thinking, but is harder to predict is to have 2 sets of 3s on top of each other. This way you can build up and if they block you from connecting the bottom 4 you will just connect the top 4.

3. Build diagonally

I don't know what it is but it is harder to spot 3 that are in a row diagonally then it is to spot 3 in a row that are in a simple row up and down. Whatever the reason it is easier to get a connect 4 by the other person making a mistake when it is diagonal.

4. Watch your opponent

See what your opponent is planning and try to stop him. Remember he might be setting a trap too.
